Whitstable is a picturesque seaside town located on the north coast of Kent and the first seaside town to the south of London, in south-east England. It is about 8 kilometres/ 5 miles north of Canterbury and about 3 kilometres/ 2 miles west of the seaside town of Herne Bay. It is part of the City of Canterbury district and has a population of about 30,000.
Whitstable is famous for its fishing traditions & particularly its oysters, which have been collected in the area since at least Roman times. Whitstable’s distinctive character is popular with tourists, and its maritime heritage is celebrated with the annual oyster festival. Freshly caught shellfish are available throughout the year at several seafood restaurants and pubs in the town. The high street is made up of lots of quirky independent shops. It’s a beautiful place for our students to visit.

Whitstable Oyster Festival
Calling all EiM Oyster lovers, the 31st annual oyster festival is coming back to Whitstable. The festival is set to be a whole week of fun, with live music, comedians, performances, sunshine, smiles and of course the odd Oyster or two. The week kicks off on Thursday evening and we will be there on the following day for our EiM Friday trip. Whitstable is just 20 minutes on the train so there's no excuse not to get try an Oyster!…
